Girls, girls, girls

Started on this sleeve with a couple of pin ups and should be doing some more work on it in a couple of weeks, so I'll post some more pictures then. Real good fun to do and can't wait to get some more done on it.

Also got to finish the Dragon Koi I started a few weeks ago, really happy with the way it finished up, and hopefully we'll be adding more to it some time not too far away. And a little pair of dice done from some flash that I thought looked pretty cool.

Maggie's Georgia Okeeffe Reproduction

Maggie brought me a print of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting, wanting it reproduced on her arm. 2 sessions later, it's done! :)

Jill's Birds and Flowers - Part One

Jill sent me some imagery of old Japanese woodcut prints and Chinese bird and flower paintings. Here's some description of what she wanted from our initial correspondence: "Flowers - I love them. I'm a gardener. I like how perennials "die" in the winter and come back in the spring. I like cycles of life/death/rebirth. renewal. I like the idea of birds as symbols of freedom and their ability to take off and rise into the sky to see things from a completely different perspective than a human's very limited one." "Part One" of this blog post is the first section, which flows across her back. There are a few old runes tattooed down her spine, that got completely covered under the right-most bird's wing. The second design will flow from her shoulder onto her arm, and be our next tattoo session.

Here's the first section, worked to completion in one session:

Melanie's Tribute to Her Kids

So.... Melanie found me through a mutual friend and wanted to cover an old tattoo. She gave me a lot of space to work on, and a lot of wiggle room for ideas. Her Children - Azalea, Jadon, and Trinity were to be the focus of this piece. Here's what I came up with:

For Azalea - Azaleas. 'Nuff said. In my search for something to represent Jadon, I researched the meaning of his name: "Jehova has heard." Well with further looking I found "The Royal Order of Jehova" who use this same meaning as a motto. The sun/cross symbol I designed around the old tattoo is called the "Order of Knighthood," a pendant worn by any Prince of the Royal Order. Thought it rang true. Worked through the pendant is a bow and arrow Sagittarius symbol, as they are all born under the Sagittarius zodiac. For Trinity, a Celtic trinity spiral.
